The restaurant

 

De Contrabando was born in 2019 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the first gastronomic project of the Canary Islander Chef, Pedro López La Camera. A small and welcoming restaurant with an open kitchen where you will be able to see the full staff in action.

The elegance and music of the restaurant create a genuine Gatsby-style atmosphere whose design will send you back to the Roaring Twenties, when contraband brewed among the best venues. We are waiting for you!

Our food 

 

In De Contrabando we offer a fun proposal of fusion cuisine with influences of various corners of the world, mainly from South America and Southeast Asia, along with the best local products of excellent quality. Combining different cooking techniques, we seek innovation and enhancement of the flavours to obtain the most delicious and daring plates to savour.

All the proposals of our menu are conceived under the idea of sharing them with whoever you wish, so you can enjoy a unique experience together.

The contrabandist Chef

Pedro López La Camera attended his higher cooking studies in Gran Canaria, Valencia and Genoa (Italy). During his period as student, he was awarded with numerous cooking and patisserie prizes in several contests, as well as obtaining the award of Best Young Cook of the Valencian Community in the Higher School of Hospitality and Tourism of Valencia.

After finishing his studies, he continued his training as stager in various three-star Michelin awarded restaurants in Gerona and Alicante. He is passionate about gastronomy and a self-identified glutton, and he loves to experiment and to merge flavours of different foreign cuisines.

De Contrabando is his first gastronomic project as executive chef, where he gives his all every day to achieve the best quality and to offer the best possible experience to the diners.
